NSW Governor visits Good Life Chorus

NSW Governor, His Excellency General the Honorable David Hurley, and Mrs Hurley, along with Ryde City Councillor (and award-winning composer) Christopher Gordon, join the singing with our assistant conductor Jemma and our choir members.

His Excellency General Hurley and Mrs Hurley visited Good Life Chorus this week to join in our rehearsal, meet our members and show their support for the way we are using music to improve people’s sense of well-being.

They were joined by Cr Christopher Gordon, from Ryde City Council, who has been a supporter of our choir since our inception 15 months ago.

The vice-regal couple told us they love singing, and have a well-used collection of songbooks at Government House. They noted that singing is beneficial for the mind and health, and encouraged us to keep on singing.

A highlight of the visit was when Mrs Hurley led the choir in an impromptu rendition of “You are my sunshine”. Certainly, our vice-regal couple brought some sunshine to our rehearsal.
